Good afternoon, Sanbornians! I’m quite happy to report that the dust is finally settling from the crises over the previous few months, and an eerie calm has settled over our fair county.

With the termite menace receding, the citizens of our great county are returning to their houses to survey the damage done and decide how to move forward. The summer months are fast approaching, and many of us are wondering what we can do to prepare our properties to get the most out of this short window of peace and prosperity!

Unfortunately, with the recent chaos, many of us have been forced to neglect our landscaping, and with the unusual rate of growth for much of the plant life in our little piece of California, many are looking at their overgrown lawns with despair. Previously perfectly kept yards are looking like the properties have been abandoned for years and nature has reclaimed them as part of her domain.

After years of nearly daily upkeep for their lawns, many Sanbornians I have talked to on the matter feel that this is the last straw. The struggle between man and grass is just too much for them to continue any longer, and it is time to start looking at alternatives.

One must be careful about which alternative to choose for their natural turf lawns in Sanborn, however. Merely tearing out the grass to replace it with clovers or stones is not enough; somehow, no matter how much soil you remove, native Sanborn flora always finds a way to return, often destroying the new landscaping work you have installed in the process.

No, Sanbornians require a more permanent solution, and that means removing the nature and replacing it with the synthetic. Luckily, Sanborn is home to a field office of NoMow Turf, a city partner known for their high quality fake grass installations in Orange County.

Synthetic turf installation involves destroying the top layers of soil to install a base of stone and sand, meaning any natural plant life is going to have an extremely tough time reclaiming the yard space. With proper drainage control, any remaining soil is deprived almost completely of water, so any plants that manage to get a foothold are incapable of surviving for long.

Utilizing artificial turf gives you all the benefits of a well maintained lawn without the constant battle to either keep it alive or getting a little too lively and takin over the space. Fake grass is a one-and-done deal, meaning you only need to worry about a proper installation.

While it is possible to perform the installation yourself, if you truly want to be certain your yard will remain free of the destructive native flora, it’s always recommended you get the work done by a professional in the field. NoMow Turf have been in the game for decades, and the hundreds of properties they have worked on can attest to their skill and professionalism.

If you’re interested in a permanent solution to the struggles you face with natural turf, give NoMow Turf a call. They will ensure your yard remains perfect without a single bead of sweat required for years to come.

The Benefits and Responsibilities of Being a Dog Owner

Many of us know of dogs as the best friends of human beings. This may be the main reason why most Americans prefer owning a pet. Studies reveal that almost 52% of pet owners in the United States enjoy keeping them for companionship in life and 40% believe that the presence of a dog at home helps them to improve their mental health.

Studies from medical health experts in the United States reveal that almost half of Americans experience stress and loneliness in their routine life. However, pets help to fulfill their needs in life. These loyal and loving companions can make people feel more at ease with enhanced emotional stability in life. But the dog owners also need to understand their responsibilities towards their pet. These creatures must be vaccinated, nourished, and groomed from time to time. The dog owners may also need to take them for vet diagnostics or a routine health check-up. Cardiac veterinarians are specialists who receive referrals from veterinarians for services like echocardiograms.

Furthermore, those who wish to own a pet in the future might be a little curious to know the benefits of having a dog at home. There are several interesting benefits of being a dog owner.

Improved heart health

Dogs can fill your heart with loads of love and happiness. They can also help to make your heart stronger. These canine companions can help the human body lower blood pressure, decrease triglyceride levels, reduce cholesterol levels, and improve heart health. Moreover, dog owners who have experienced heart attacks in the past are more likely to have a higher survival rate afterwards.

Enhanced fitness and activities

Health experts advise people to make time for moderate exercise every week. However, dog owners are likely to hit this goal without making any additional effort. People love to go on a walk with their pets. Their routine playful activities will encourage anyone to keep moving. As a result, dog owners are likely to have fewer visits to doctors and more likely to have better fitness.

Faster weight loss

Those who are interested in dropping a few pounds of weight are advised to care for a dog at home. These hyperactive animals can help you burn all the stored fat content very fast while balancing your overall body shape. A recent study found that residents who walked with their dog were able to lose 14.4 pounds in a year. And the best part is that they consider walking a dog care responsibility.

Improved social life

An amazing benefit of becoming a dog owner is that these extroverted and outgoing animals can help you set up connections with the people around you. Usually, it is difficult to find time to meet new people in our busy lives. But when you have a pet, you find yourself out in the parks and streets for walks, making it easier to meet other dog owners.

Now that you know of the amazing benefits of having a dog, it is time to ensure that yours lives a happy and healthy life by giving a Cardiac Veterinarian a call today.

A Growing Problem

Good afternoon and welcome back to the Sanborn County Rag! Well, what’s left of it, anyway!

Since our last update on the termite issue, things have taken a bit of a turn for the worse. We seem to have a bit of a plague on our hands, and the situation is looking a little grim!

Since the old courthouse collapsed, the termite infestations have spread in a concentric circle pattern radiating outward from the ruins. Terrified citizens have been forced to flee as their homes and businesses get gobbled up before their very eyes.

Our very own temporary office in the local YMCA was also unfortunately destroyed. Your humble narrator was barely able to come out with my laptop and some documents before the building was cordoned off by police.

Upon reaching the refugee camp near Lake Sanborn, I took it upon myself to find Groundskeeper Jenkins, whose cryptic warnings in the wake of the courthouse collapse seems all the more prescient now. I managed to find him cooling his heels near the hot dog cart, happily munching away on a corndog.

His healthy pallor returning and the faraway glint in his eyes now gone, it appears whatever hold the courthouse had on him is fading away. When asked about what he meant by his warnings from a few weeks ago, he merely shrugged and said, “I told you so.” He then invited me to sit with him and share in his meal.

To combat this newest disaster impacting Sanborn, the mayor is bringing out the big guns: he has invited one of southern California’s premier exterminators, Grand Oaks Termite Control, to join the fray. The Grand Oaks-based company has been operating for eight years, and in that time has created a loyal customer base and destroyed hundreds of infestations. Here’s just a few testimonials from their client base:

If the company accepts the mayor’s invitation, they will certainly have the job of their life ahead of them. If you believe your home is experiencing its own plague or infestation, give Grand Oaks a call – they’ve got the tools and the experience needed to eradicate your pest problem and prevent future ones from popping up.
